The Jacket

Logline: Two strangers encounter an unexpected romance that tests their love for one another while tempting the hand of fate.

INT. ZACH AND SAM’S BEDROOM-DAY

SAM sits, overlooking ZACH, who lies helplessly in their bed. He is almost unrecognizable compared to the once joyful and enchanting man she met all those years ago. The two are surrounded by a caretaker and family members, chatting and carrying on as SAM and ZACH share a moment.

ZACH

(musters the energy to look up at SAM)

I’m gonna miss you.

(BEAT)

I’m really gonna miss you.

SAM

(tears start to roll down her cheeks)

You have no idea how much I will miss you. I don’t know how I’m supposed to get through this life we built without you.

ZACH

I know, baby, I know. I hate the fact that I’m leaving you like this.

(BEAT)

Especially ‘cause our kids are assholes. And they’re only going to get worse.

They both laugh. SAM gently caresses ZACH’s face, holding on tightly to every moment she has left with him.

ZACH

I wish I could go back in time and change the way things turned out.

(PAUSE)

Can we go back in time and start over?

SAM

Honey, even if we started over, the ending would still be the same. You can’t change fate.

ZACH

I don’t care. I’d go through this over and over again, if it meant being with you each time.

SAM

You’d really be willing to start over with me?

ZACH

Absolutely yes. Would you be willing to start over with me?

C/U of ZACH as he waits for a response. Nothing.

ZACH

Hello?

(LONG PAUSE)

Hello?

JUMP CUT TO:

EXT. BUS STOP: NIGHT

(V.O.)

Hello?

(BEAT)

Hello? Miss?

We hear the sound of fingers snapping as the scene opens on a C/U OF SAM’S face, EYES CLOSED, still entranced in the previous moment. Her entire body jolts and her eyes fly open as she returns to the present moment. She stares blankly at her disruptor, shocked at the person standing before her. It’s ZACH. He’s slightly crouched, standing in front of the bench with a look of concern for the stranger sitting before him.

Fuck Buddies

Logline: Best friends find themselves in a complicated situation once they decide to add a new element to their friendship.

INT. STEVE’S APARTMENT-BEDROOM-SAME NIGHT

STEVE and ALLY are standing at the foot of his bed, clothes on, facing one another. This is the moment of truth.

ALLY

It’s time to get motha fuckin’ freaky.

STEVE

Please don’t be weird. I’m already having a hard time with this.

ALLY

Sorry...it’s time to make sweet love. Skin on skin contact.

STEVE

Oh my God, just stop. Just stop.

ALLY

Sorry. I don’t know how to go about this. You’re my best friend, so I’m having a hard time treating you like a normal man.

STEVE

Gee, thanks.

ALLY

No, I mean, like someone I’m dating. That came out wrong.

(BEAT)

Maybe we should just stop talking and kiss.

The two attempt to kiss and it’s awkward and uncomfortable.

STEVE

Ugh, I can’t kiss you. It’s too intimate. And this is strictly business.

ALLY

Yeah, but kissing is how I get things going. Just close your eyes and don’t think about it.

STEVE leans in to kiss ALLY and it’s extremely awkward.

STEVE

(backs away)

I can’t. I can’t....fuck it, let’s just Pretty Woman it. No kissing on the mouth.

ALLY aggressively removes STEVE’S shirt, closes her eyes and starts kissing his body and makes her way down toward his pants. She grabs him by the belt buckle and tosses him on the bed.

STEVE

Oh, wow, okay. You’re an aggressive little one, aren’t you?

ALLY

I’m gonna do things to you, that will make your nuts squirm.

STEVE

Oh my God, please stop talking.

CUT TO:

INT. STEVE’S BEDROOM-LATER THAT NIGHT

STEVE and ALLY lie in his bed, post coitus, under the covers. Both have looks of disappointment on their faces.

Que Linda

Logline: A young girl learns to embrace her uniqueness through her Grandmother's love.

INT. DINING ROOM-DAY

Ambra pushes the box out of the hallway and toward the kitchen table. She passes by the living room. We see her GRANDMA in the background, sitting down, crocheting and watching TV.

Ambra stands in front of her ‘spaceship,’ quietly crying as she tries to pull out the smashed side of her box, only for it to collapse back in. She sits, head down, her spirit defeated.

Into the frame walks Grandma. She kneels down, takes off the towel Ambra wears around her neck and places a beautifully crocheted blanket in its place. She uses the same rubber band that held the towel to secure the blanket around Ambra’s neck. Ambra is excited as she stands up and twirls around in her new cape. She looks up and smiles as Grandma gets up.

INT. LIVING ROOM-CONTINUOUS

Grandma and Ambra walk toward the sliding door. Grandma opens the sliding door as Ambra rushes outside.

EXT. HOUSE-BACKYARD-DAY

We watch as Ambra “flies” around, up a hill around the trees and back down, circling the entire backyard. She heads back toward the house and through the ivy-covered archway into the patio where Grandma stands, watching.

Ambra runs into Grandma’s open arms and squeezes ever so tightly as Grandma hugs her back. Ambra looks up, as Grandma puts all fingers together and places them on Ambra’s mouth, replicating a kiss.

GRANDMA

Ay, que esta linda (My, you’re so pretty)

FADE TO BLACK.
